One of the most interesting aspects of Paladins: Champions of the Realm, is that you can customize your characters within each match. This allows you to strengthen them versus a specific scenario, and not be stuck with the exact same skills every time you play.

To help you maximize your characters, we put together 17 character builds. These represent a few of the many possible combinations of items and cards that we found work really well, in a number of situations.

Androxus

For Androxus, we came up with a build that makes heavy use of Nether Step and Defiance, to both keep him alive and allow him a high degree of mobility.

  • Cards
    • Abyss Walker Level 3
    • Through the Warp Level 2
    • Abyssal Touch Level 2
    • Power of the Abyss Level 3
    • Sleight of Hand Level 2

Once you are in the game, we suggest buying Chronos, Kill to Heal and Aggression from the Item Shop. This combination of cards and items will give you a very high amount of mobility, allowing you to constantly be closing the gap on your enemies, while also gaining some health each time.

Barik

This loadout is designed to make Barik incredibly hard to kill, further increasing his Front Line and tanky capabilities.

  • Cards
    • Combat Repair Level 3
    • Healing Station Level 4
    • Foundation Level 2
    • Bunker Level 1
    • Forged Alloy Level 2

For items, we suggest getting Haven, Morale and Kill to Heal from the Item Shop. With these items, and the previously mentioned cards, it will be very difficult to kill you as you're constantly generating health, so long as your turret is alive.

Bomb King

Our build for the Bomb King looks to utilize his skills as often as possible, in an effort to have the most stuns available per match.

  • Cards
    • Countdown Level 4
    • Fallout Level 2
    • Backdraft Level 2
    • Reinforced Casing Level 1
    • Shock And Awe Level 3

Once in game, we suggest working on the Chronos and Aggression items from the Item Shop. This will allow you to use your bombs more often, while increasing their damage!

Buck

For Buck, we wanted to amplify his surprise tactics, so we loaded him out with cards and items that will allow him to use his skills as often as possible, so he can constantly be healing and jumping around the map.

  • Cards
    • Giga Siphon Level 3
    • Reconstruction Level 2
    • Seismic Wave Leveler 2
    • Tangled Level 2
    • Stomping Ground Level 3

In game, we suggest getting Haven, Morale, Life Rip and Aggression from the Item Shop. Depending on how much money you are earning, Haven and Morale can be left until later in the match.

Cassie

For the archer, we wanted to amplify the power of her attacks and various skills, so that she can do the most damage from a safe distance.

  • Cards
    • Blast Shower Level 2
    • Kinetics Level 2
    • Megaton Level 3
    • Onslaught 2
    • Raze Level 3

Once in the game, we suggest getting Aggression and Chronos from the Item Shop. This will increase your damage, and the power of your skills.

Drogoz

When making a loadout for Drogoz, we wanted to maximize his Thrust skill. By doing this, we increase his damage, and give him more angles of attack that most characters never have.

  • Cards
    • Lung Capacity Level 1
    • Thrill of the Hunt Level 3
    • Rain of Fire Level 4
    • Propel Level 1
    • Fuel Tank Level 3

For items, we suggest getting Aggression and Morale from the Item Shop. These will allow you to pump out more damage, while also charging up your Ultimate much faster.

Evie

For the ice queen, we wanted to make a build that allows her to use Soar and Blink as often as possible. This gives her an unmatched degree of mobility during a game.

  • Cards
    • Teleport Level 4
    • Reprieve Level 2
    • Over The Moon Level 2
    • Impact Level 3
    • Great Distance Level 1

From the Item Shop, we suggest picking up Life On Kill and either Chronos or Morale. These will allow you to keep your health up, and use your skills more. If however you have a very team fight oriented group, you can swap Chronos for Morale, so you can contribute your ultimate to the team fights.

Fernando

There is no better tank in the game, so we wanted to make him even better at that job. This build makes his shield stronger and turns him into an even more unkillable beast.

  • Cards
    • Safe Travel Level 2
    • Dire Need Level 3
    • Heat Transfer Level 2
    • Towering Barrier Level 3
    • Evolve Level 2

In game, we suggest purchasing the Haven, Chronos and Life on Kill items from the Item Shop. These items will make you harder to kill, let you gain life back and allow you to use your skills more often. Overall, you're one big, unkillable tank.

Grohk

Our build for Grohk is very simple. We want to make his Healing Totem as powerful as possible. To this end, we gave him every card for it, as well as a fifth card to further improve the totem.

  • Cards
    • Crackle Level 3
    • Outreach Level 4
    • Healing Rain Level 2
    • Monolith Totem Level 2
    • Gale Level 1

For items, we suggest getting Haven and Chronos. This combination makes you tougher to kill, while letting you use Healing Totem more often.

Grover

For the tree Grover, we wanted to increase both his healing power and his mobility. To this end, we gave him cards for both Blossom and Vine.

  • Cards
    • Perennial Level 2
    • Verdant Expanse Level 3
    • Over Growth Level 2
    • Vine Grasp Level 2
    • Barkskin Level 3

For Grover's items, we suggest buying Haven and Morale from the Item Shop. These will make you tankier and allow you to charge up your ultimate faster than usual.

Kinessa

For Kinessa we took a rounded approach. Instead of making any one skill amazing, we wanted to give her an all-around boost. This improves her performance in a wide variety of situations, making this build far more rounded than some others.

Kinessabuild1.jpg

  • Cards
    • Amplitude Level 3
    • Well Stocked Level 2
    • Open Season Level 4
    • Quick Scope Level 2
    • Lie In Wait Level 1

For items, we suggest Aggression and Morale. Kinessa is all about damage output, so there is no reason not to boost it even higher. These items, in conjunction with the cards mentioned above, will make her an absolute powerhouse.

Makoa

Our build for Makoa is designed to make him the best tank he can be. For this, we wanted to greatly crank up the power of his shield, well making his Shell Spin more useful in case he needs to make a hasty retreat.

  • Cards
    • Ancient Resolve Level 2
    • Carapace Level 3
    • Tidal Grace Level 2
    • Surf Level 2
    • Leviathan Level 3

From the Item Shop, we suggest buying Haven and Life on Kill. Chronos is also an option, if you're floating some extra money during some of those longer, drawn out matches. These items will make you even tougher to kill, further strengthening the overall tanky build.

Pip

For Pip, we aimed to make his utility better. For this, we tried to get the most out of his Healing Potion and Explosive Flask, which will make him a very critical component of any team fight.

  • Cards
    • Medicinal Excellence Level 3
    • Reload Level 2
    • Graviton Level 3
    • Side Tanks Level 2
    • Shrewd Move Level Level 2

In game, we suggest buying the Chronos and Life on Kill. Chronos is an amazing part of this build, and combined with the previously mentioned cards, will allow him to throw Potions and Flasks every couple seconds.

Ruckus

For the mech Ruckus, we wanted to maximize his tanking capabilities. His shield is incredibly good, even by default, so we wanted to make it even better while also boosting his team oriented options.

advertisem*nt

  • Cards
    • Warden Level 3
    • Heat Diffuser Level 4
    • Metal March Level 1
    • Fuel Reserves Level 1
    • Nanotechnology Level 3

For items, we suggest getting Haven and Chronos. Haven improves your base ability to tank, while Chronos lowers cooldowns, allowing you to cast Emitter more often. This build is designed to keep Ruckus alive, even through the harshest of team fights.

Skye

Skye is already an incredibly strong champion, so instead we wanted to boost her survivability. This build bolsters her Smoke Screen and Hidden skills, allowing her to disappear for longer periods of time, increasing her chances of survival but also making her stealthy gameplay better.

  • Cards
    • Smother Level 2
    • Specter Level 2
    • Cloak Level 3
    • Emergency Exit Level 2
    • Shadow Affinity Level 3

For Skye, we suggest buying the Chronos, Life on Kill and Aggression items from the Item Shop. These will allow her to use her skills more often, while also dealing more damage and healing herself through kills.

Viktor

Viktor is a very well rounded character, so we played into that strength with this build. Instead of focusing on just one skill, we wanted to give him an overall damage boost, by highlighting key parts of various skills.

  • Cards
    • Grenadier Level 2
    • Second Wind Level 2
    • Compensator Level 4
    • Reflexes Level 1
    • Flak Jacket Level 3

In game, we suggest buying Aggression, Morale and Life Rip from the Item Shop. These items, combined with this card loadout, give him a well balanced performance boost, ensuring he can more easily dish out damage, while also giving him a boost to survivability.

Ying

Ying is very reliant on her illusions, so we wanted to make a build that did everything it could to make those stronger and more effective. This build does just that, ensuring she can both heal better but also dish out more damage.

  • Cards
    • Carry On Level 2
    • Mesmerism Level 3
    • Squadron Level 3
    • Fracture Level 1
    • Pursuit Level 3

For items, we suggest picking up Haven and Chronos. This will make her a bit harder to kill, while lowering the cooldown on her skills. Combined with the cards, this lets her pump out illusions very quickly, which helps her team and hurts her enemies.
